Crazy Amigos - Butterflies

Who has not stopped to admire the winged wonders of nature on a summer's day? The challenge this week at Crazy Amigos is the butterfly. It seemed to me they called for an uncluttered page, with nothing to detract from these glorious flying palettes. Thank you for stopping by to look and comment.

Mixed Media Monday - Flying

The Mixed Media Monday features "flying" this week. With the help of a very talented designer, Kubivet, who is so generous with freebies, I've featured a couple of angels in heartfelt conversation. The sparklies are compliments of Vera. There have been times in my life when I'm sure the angels are looking out for me, and I like to think they're as charming as these two!

Sunday Postcard - Life is Good

The guest designer at Sunday Postcard, Anne Swinkels, has chosen "Life is Good" as this week's theme. My life HAS been good this past week with a visit from my daughter and her family from Oregon. Family, after all, is our greatest treasure. So, when I found this photo, this little guy seemed the personification of the phrase in every way. Doesn't he make you feel good just to look at his sweet face?! May he never lose the ability to experience and express joy!

Artarazzi #16

Vron at Artarazzi has given us an image by Sir Edward Coley Burne-Jones. It made me think of haunted manors and spirits dancing on moonlight nights. I've used the wonderful photo of a deserted manor house by Martin Beek for the background here, and submitted the "ladies" to various filters. Thanks, Vron! The quote is from J. M. Barrie, and, in full, it is:
"A house is never still in darkness to those who listen intently; there is a whispering in distant chambers, an unearthly hand presses the snib of the window, the latch rises. Ghosts were created when the first man awoke in the night."

Art Creations

I gave this little guy a ticket to ride, and sent him up in a hot air balloon. He doesn't look especially happy about it though! Thanks to the ladies of Art Creations Friday for their efforts in finding interesting and challenging images each week, and thanks everyone for looking!

Lovely image this week, Vron. I agree with Faye, I think she's Russian, and she seemed to fit well into this Marcus Lopez setting (with alterations). Thanks for looking!

Make a Moo - Postale

Postale is the challenge at Make a Moo this week. It's my favorite thing to do, but I found it a challenge to whittle it down to the size of a moo!!! Thank you for looking.

Art Creations - 3-20

The ladies at Art Creations gave us this interesting background (which I've tinted a bit), and I've been experimenting with startling portrait alterations. Are you startled yet?? Thanks for looking at my quirky exploration!

Artarazzi - Geisha

Vron has given us a lovely image of a geisha to work with. I chose to use it with a favorite quote from Confucious .... and, oh dear, it just occurs to me geishas are Japanese and Confucious was Chinese. No matter, I'll consider it an international quote !!

Art Creations - 3-13

Art Creations has given us another gorgeous image to "play with" this week. I blended a layer of sheet music and a playbill, and added a ticket for admission to the show. Thanks for looking.

Make a Moo - Puzzle

We were asked to use a puzzle piece in our art for the challenge this week. This little lady looks a bit puzzled, and I'm sure she's looking for the key to success. I wish her luck!

Theme Thursday - Flowers

I found this black and white corner embellishment and vintage lamp at Liam's Old Books, and the gorgeous image was a freebie a while back at the Art Creations blog. I tinted the embellishment, and hope it appears as a delicate spray of flowers. Thanks for your comments!

Sunday Postcard - Quote

I'm looking forward to all the good quotes at the Sunday Postcard challenge this week. My entry has a Victorian flare. The quote is so profound, I kept the page quite simple and straightforward. Thanks for looking.

Artarazzi 3-7

This was an interesting background, Vron, and truly a challenge! I placed a village scene overlay (Bachspics) and posterized it, used an SS light beam brush, and then placed a vintage lady (Dargie). Thanks for looking!

Junk Journal

My local art group has been making junk journals. Here's my effort. I used a Crispix cereal box, wallpaper remnants, watercolor paper for pages, button cord, and beads left over from a previous project. We'll swap journals until everyone has done a page or two in our journal and it's then returned to us. Sounds like fun, doesn't it? For a view of a couple of other journals, check the blog of my friend, Kris, at Retro Art Cafe.

Crazy Amigos - Spin

This spin and splash background seemed to lend itself well to my free-falling image, taking a dive in a feast of color. Thanks for the challenge!

Mixed Media Monday - Time

Heather's our hostess this week, and she's chosen "Time", which is always a fun theme. Looks as if it's getting away from my guy in this piece, doesn't it? Thanks, Heather. It was fun!
