Three Muses - Nature

This is done using some elements from Scrapbookgraphics. The script overlay is part of a poem named "The Seedling", by Paul Laurence Dunbar. Thank you for stopping by.

Here's front and back of the beautiful bit of mail art I received from Marie (Ozstuff). An equally beautiful bookmark was tucked inside. It is such fun to find jewels such as this amongst the humdrum daily mail! Thanks, Marie!

Mixed Media Monday - Cool It

Mixed Monday's theme is cool colors, and I thought of iced sherbert immediately. Since the last piece I did was a challenge "on the darkside", this was a refreshing change. I feel cooler already! Thanks, guys!

Sunday Postcard - Darkside

Sunday Postcard is calling for something "on the darkside" this week. This one scares even me! I don't know where this is, but I'm not going there!!! Thanks for stopping by.

Three Muses - Zetti

Does anyone really know the exact definition of zetti art? Seems if it has stripey legs it qualifies! There's a bit of Catherine Designs and Fidlette at the top and bottom here and a bit of a Terri freebie background for border, but the zettilady whose let things go to her head is "mine own" ! She's sketched, colored with Prismacolor pencils, then scanned onto the background and crowned. Thanks for looking!

We Three Muses decided to exchange mail art. Here's the beautiful envelope I received from Ann this week. I also received Marie's gorgeous envelope, which you can see here . I can see how mail art could become addictive!

Mixed Media Monday - Red

My little lady in red is a Flickr Collage image. Borders were freebies, and there are a couple of elements from Creates Wings. Thanks for the challenge!

Sunday Postcard - Odd Bod

My Odd Bod has no taste at all. None of her colors match, she's having a bad hair day, her toenails need to be trimmed, and she's looking a little pea-green! Somehow she reminds me of the saying "A mule is a horse put together by a committee!" Thanks for the fun, SPA!

Theme Thursday - Children

I saw this idea somewhere and it intrigued me, so I decided I'd try it for the Theme Thursday challenge of "children". The class photo is from Flickr Collage Images. The girl is sketched by me, scanned, and superimposed on the photo. Fun! Thanks, Theme Thursday, for the challenge.

Three Muses - Wheel

I was nearly stumped by my own challenge! I decided to make this a rather personal entry. About 20 years ago, when my aunt was 80 years old, she gave me this woolen woven coverlet. The wool, she told me, was spun by her grandmother from sheep on their farm. It was dyed and woven into this coverlet on a loom by her grandmother. Imagine the hours! Many coverlets of this sort have the date and initials woven in. Alas, my great grandmother did not do this, but the coverlet is well over 100 years old. I folded back a corner, took a photograph, and digitally tucked in the painting of the woman at the spinning wheel by Frank Cadogan Cowper. A nice family memory for one of my journal pages. Thanks for listening to my story, and thanks for looking!

Sunday Postcard - Mushrooms

Even faeries seek hope! There's a bit of Lorie Davison (SBG) here, Karen's Whimsy public domain faerie, Create Wings Designs and B. Datema (SBG) overlay. Thanks for stopping by and having a look!

Theme Thursday - Buildings

The theme this week at Theme Thursday is buildings. Somehow in the creation of this piece, the thought "on the outside looking in" came to mind, and here's the result. The image is from Art-E-Zine, the window frame from Jen U Designs, the buildings were googled. Thanks for stopping by!

Three Muses - Door

It's said when one door closes, another opens. True, but I think we all look back on those closed doors and wonder .... what if ? There are many layers to this piece, and images from the public domain. Thanks, Marie, for the challenge!

Mixed Media Monday - Memories

Something different for me. The background is by Rubyblossom (thanks, Ruby), the rest is sketched by me with a bit of color added with Prismacolor pencil, enhanced with a couple of Photoshop filters. Before I married, I lived for almost 5 years in Miami, and I have fond memories of the ocean, the beaches, and the carefree good times with young friends.

Sunday Postcard - House

Thanks to my "stash", including K. Mettler, Christina Rene, Granny and April Mouse, I had a little fun with this challenge. Thanks for having a look!

Still pushing my boundaries. This sketch is done on a background by Rubyblossom (thanks, Ruby!). I think this could get to be addictive!

Thursday, August 5, 2010

I've been challenging myself of late to do more sketching and drawing. The beautiful background here is a freebie from Astrid McLean, and the sketch is mine using Prismacolor pencils. If you should happen to stop by, thanks for looking!

Three Muses - Love is Blind

Ann's challenge had me scratching my head for a bit, but with the help of a Suzie-Q image and one of my "fellows" from a Nick Bantockian piece some time ago, I came up with this proof that love is, indeed, blind. I had some fun with The News Generator, making my own clipping of the nuptials. (Enlarge to read) This is such a fun site. Be sure to visit and create a personalized clipping of your own!
