Collage Obsession - Ursula

Rick at Collage Obsession has given us an image of Ursula.  I've used a portion of
the photo.  It seemed to me she's a California girl -- probably from the wine country.  Anyway, I've put her there!   Thanks for stopping by.

Take A Word - Blooms

This is a little tongue-in-cheek, but it was great fun for this week's challenge.  Don't you sometimes have those days when you feel you just don't fit in with the crowd?   .... and, come to think of it, don't you sometimes have those days when you're GLAD you don't fit in with the crowd?!?!   It's good to have the confidence to be your own unique self.   The poppy is courtesy of Natalie Designs (SBG), and the rest are Christina Renee Designs.

Theme Thursday - Orange

Theme Thursday has chosen "orange" for this week's theme.  I've used a Shadowhouse Creations filter, and some Tangie Baxter elements along with this lovely image, the source of which is gone from my mind.  Sorry!   Thanks for stopping by!

Three Muses - Land of Odd

I love the thought of a Land of Odd, where you might meet the most peculiar characters out for an afternoon stroll.   It's such fun to create these unlikely characters.  I'm anxious to see who everyone else finds in their own Land of Odd!

Take a Word - Architecture

Don't we all dream of beach front property?   It's a bit of a walk from the parking lot to the house, but the view is worth it!   The "realtor" is a Bev original.   Thanks for checking it out!

Sunday Postcard - Fair Maidens

Terri chose "fair maidens" for this week's challenge.   I used a bit of Botticelli, a touch of DaVinci, and some digital legerdemain.   Thanks for stopping by!

This is the final challenge for the Art Creations site.  I am so sorry.  I've enjoyed their challenges.    Most everything here, including the trunk, came from net surfing.  Thanks for looking!

Take a Word - Green

Happy St. Patrick's Day everybody.  Deann chose "Green" for the word challenge this week.  Shurrrr 'n begorrah the leprechauns are out,  (fortified with a bit of the brew, hence the bubbles) and there's magic afoot.   Hope there's a pot of gold at the end of your rainbow.   Thanks for stopping by!

ACF 108

This little guy looked as if he came straight out of a Charles Wysocki painting....so that's where I put him, right into the midst of one!   Frame is by Bernie Datema at Scrapbook Graphics.   Thanks for stopping by to have a look!

Three Muses - Spring

I love Spring, when the stark, bare trees of winter begin to show the first faint sprigs of green; when the morning is greeted by birdsong;  when crocuses and daffodils are pushing their way up through soil with its rich, loamy fragrance, moist from melting snow.   It was when my mother's seed catalogs arrived in the mail, and she spent hours poring over them, planning her garden.   It was birthing time for the farm animals, and the appearance of frisky little lambs, baby calves trailing their mothers about the fields,  and the ducks and geese guarding their nests until the miraculous appearance of  their little balls-of-fluff offspring.   I lived for almost 5 years in Florida where each warm, sunny day is followed by the next warm, sunny day in seamless succession with no change of seasons.   After a couple of years, I began to long for the magic of Spring and the crisp days of early Autumn.  Happily I've returned to the midwest, and I've never tired of the change of seasons!    My art is a simplistic representation of the magic of Spring.  The girl with tulip is an original sketch.   Thanks for stopping by!

Collage Obsession - Pets

The theme at Collage Obsession is "pets" this week.   Nothing like a boy and his "dawg" !!   Image courtesy of Flickr Collage Images.  Thanks for stopping by!

Take a Word - Birdlife

These are North American Whooping Cranes.   They have an interesting story.  In the early 1980's they were nearly extinct, with only 15 birds remaining.  Wildlife conservationists devised a most unusual project to introduce a new migrating population of the endangered species from Wisconsin to safe nesting grounds in Florida.  The chicks were taught to fly, led by a surrogate parent,-- an ultralight plane, and they flew successfully to their new nesting grounds.   The project has been successful, and  there have since been 10 successful flights and the population has grown to 570.   If you are interested in reading about this fascinating project, see here    http://www.whoopingcrane.com/WCCA_report/?p=281

Mary wasn't sure, but it seemed her image was stepping out of the mirror.   Or .... perhaps it was only an illusion.    Credits: Tumblefish Studios (face), Kubivet, Irene Alexeeva, Flickr Collage Images.

Art Creations - 3-3

"Everyone loved to listen when Daddy played the violin".   I loved the image we were given by Art Creations this week.  Wonder why he has his pants legs rolled up?   Anyway, he's a handsome fellow, and I've given him a shy daughter and a pretty wife in the window.

Three Muses - Ancestor

In my mother's later years, she gave me her grandmother's photo album.  It was one of those wonderful  old leather albums with windowed pages meant to hold cabinet card photos.  By the time she gave it to me the pages were tattered and only a few photographs remained, none of which were identified.  The young man above was one of those.  I like his earnest expression and his square jaw.  The photo was taken in Ohio.  So, here is my ancestor.  I don't know who he is, but we share DNA.   The benevolent face in the mists behind the family record is that of my grandmother.   I wish she had written his name on the back of his photo!
