Take a Word - Flight

This young man (a freebie from Land of Nod) looks as if he's giving the matter of flying some serious thought.    His feathered friend seems to be giving him encouragement and wise input.   The hardest part of being a parent is to allow your children to leave the nest,  try their wings, and establish their own flight pattern!    Great challenge, Ann!

  1. Freedom, although it's one of the greatest gifts we can give our children, IS difficult as a parent. You've given this young man quite a story, Bev. Once again, you weave a story with your mouse in hand. Hugs, Terri xoxo

  10. A wonderful piece Bev. It was hard enough to watch my children fly but then I had to watch my grandchildren find their wings too.
And your poem below is so true.

  12. Bev, you do these richly atmospheric pictures so well. I love everything about this one - the boy, the magnificent bird and the insight behind it all. Superb.

  13. Bev, your boy has an expression on his face that tells me he is thinking of making his get away in that balloon. See he even has his possessions tucked under his arm! I feel as though there is a great story behind it. Kudos my dear friend.

  14. Bev, I love your piece on flight. It has all the right touches along with beautiful color. It is hard to let the young test their wings. Our only granddaughter (and only grandchild!) has flown off to the west coast to study for her doctorate. We know she can do whatever it takes, but still it's hard knowing we can't be at her side quickly if something happens. I loved the poem you wrote in your 50s. And I can truly relate!!!

  16. The look on his face is fantastic! Definitely the kind of look I'd have if considering going up in a hot air balloon. I'm afraid my decision, though, would be - no way! Great work!
