Mixed Media Monday - Thinking

The theme at Mixed Media Monday is "What was she thinking?" I was drawn to this image with the sad eyes, who looks as if life is wearing her down. I'm convinced she was thinking of happier times. Thanks for stopping by!

Sunday Postcard - Phrenology

What an interesting theme! Thanks for making us s*t*r*e*t*c*h! Credits for this piece go to Flickr Images. I'm anxious to see what everyone else has done with this! Thanks for stopping by.

Art Creations - Hope

I love the image we're given this week by Art Creations. She looks like such a determined, competent little person, I'm sure she could take on a new world and make it hers. Thank you for sharing her with us!

Theme Thursday - Busy

My entry for Theme Thursday's challenge depicts the nearly lost art of the home seamstress. Now that most wives are working wives, there's little time for sewing; and, sadly, the cost of fabric and patterns has skyrocketed. Times, they are a-changin', and this is a somewhat nostalgic page of what used to be.

Three Muses - Quote or Quip

In his Lake Woebegone series, Garrison Keillor refers to the ladies of the local church, the name of which, according to Keillor, is Our Lady of Perpetual Guilt. Somewhere I heard the above quote, and it is profound. As women, we so readily accept blame one can assume we come equipped with ovaries AND guilt! Credits to this piece go to Art Creations for the freebie background, Cemerony and Land of Nod for the elements, Flickr Collage Images, and miscellaneous stamps from my software. Thanks for stopping by. Your comments are always welcome.

Collage Obsession - Abandoned

Good luck to the new challenge blog, Collage Obsession, who challenged us with the house photo and the word "abandoned", either or both. Credits for my collage elements to Sausan Designs, OScraps Charmes, CR Designs and Art-E-Zine. Thanks for stopping by!

Mixed Media Monday - Games

There was a time (before television and obesity) when children spent endless hours playing active outdoor games like Cops and Robbers, Keep-Away, Blind Man's Bluff, Red Rover, Fox and Goose, Tag, and Hide and Seek for a few. I tried to make my page reminiscent of those times. Remember when? Credits are due to BaersGarten and Maya from SBG, Kubivet, and Flickr Collage Images (Sassyart). Thanks to Mixed Media Monday for jogging my memory, and thanks to those of you who stopped by for a peek!

Sunday Postcard - Time

Time has a way of skittering away and leaving us wondering why we didn't make better use of it! I tried to capture that feeling in this piece inspired by the theme "Time" at Sunday Postcard. I used elements from Maya's Steampunk kit at Scrapbookgraphics. Thanks for the challenge, and thanks for stopping by to have a look!

4x4 Friday - Boy and Bird

Wishing the new Friday 4x4 Challenge Blog good luck, here's my entry for this week's challenge -- Boy and Bird. The background is from Flickr Playing with Brushes, the boy from Flickr free images, and the enhancements are from Cemerony Etsy collage sheets. This was great fun to pull together. Thanks, Kersten!

Theme Thursday - Number

Theme Thursday has asked us to feature a number in our work. This was created with elements from Flickr Playing with Brushes. Wouldn't you love to know the story of these four ladies? Are they sisters, do you think? What did they talk about on this day they were together? Old photos just leave me with a head full of questions! Thanks for stopping by. We can each write our own story for this one!

Three Muses - Something in the Air

You may think there was "something in the water" too, when you see this slightly preposterous piece.....but I had great fun! The astrobat (astronaut/acrobat) and flag are compliments of Fidlette Designs, and the bubbles compliments of my ULead software, which surprised me with the effect. Thanks for looking, and thanks, Marie, for a great challenge.

Sunday Postcard - Eyes

I loved this challenge, and had my entry ready -- then I was attacked by a viscious malware. I'm just up and running again, and late to post this. Thanks for the challenge, and thanks for stopping by!

Art Creations & Friday 4x4

Art Creations has given us this beautiful vintage image. I thought this piece might also fit into the challenge at the new blog challenge, Friday 4x4, which is hearts. The piece seemed to need a dash of color, so I chose to make the little bird a bluebird of happiness. Thank you for visiting!

Theme Thursday - Hearts

I imagine this little sweetheart (Flickr Collage Images, SuzieQ) got lots of valentines from hopeful suitors! The mirror is googled, and background papers are from Doris Castle at Scrapbookgraphics. Thanks for stopping by!

Three Muses - Water

This is inspired by the work of Angi Sullins and Silas Toball, whose work was featured in the Autumn issue of "Digital Studios" magazine. In fact, it's inspired me to try all sorts of composite characters, with which I'm having great fun. The background here is from April Mouse, the boots from a catalog, the fish from Graphics Fairy, the hat from Maya's Steampunk at Scrapbook Graphics. Thank you for indulging my experimentation! Your comments are welcome.

Mixed Media Monday - New

Mixed Media Monday asks us to try something new. I've been experimenting with "composite" characters, and some of the most interesting things happen I first found this body at Flickr Collage Images, then went in search of a color-coordinated unlikely head, and came across the lion. Once my new persona presented himself, he seemed to call for a concrete jungle, which I found on Google. The background is compliments of April Mouse. Each one of these composites is something new, as they seem to take on a personality all their very own! What do you think?

Sunday Postcard - Window

Windows -- one of my favorite challenges -- is the word at Sunday Postcard this week. Here's my entry, and a word from the wise bird! Background is from Flickr Textures 4 Layers, overlay is by Kay Pertiet. Thanks for looking.

Theme Thursday - Paris

Theme Thursday is starting the New Year off with a trip to Paris, and don't we all think of can-can girls when we think of Paris? My background is from Flickr Texture for Layers; the Eiffel Tower is from my friend, Mars, in the Netherlands; and other elements, including the can-can girl, are from the web. Joi de vivre!

Three Muses - Angels

I sometimes think that angels must get very tired, what with winging about here and there getting us out of messes, consoling us, inspiring us, and looking after us. I think there must be times they just stop and snooze a bit to recharge their batteries. I think this little fellow above was one of those. He'll be up and about his angel duties in no time, I'm sure.
The background photo here is sunrise over Lake Wabigoon in Canada, where my son goes on a fishing expedition almost every year. The bird is from Graphics Fairy, the fence and the angel are compliments of Googling about.

Sunday Postcard - Top Hat

I spent hours on my first entry...then accidentally erased it! This is my second effort, and I'm still mourning the first! Thanks for starting us off for the New Year!
