Take a Word - Arch

Our challenge this week was to use an arch in our work.  This arch seemed to lend itself well to my little flower girl, whose been in my stash for some time.  I lightly tinted the black and white photo.  Don't you wonder when you see these vintage photos if children ever smiled in those days?  Everyone always looks so somber!   Thanks for stopping by.  I appreciate your comments.

Three Muses - Disguise

Milady is from The Lost Gallery, the mask and frame are googled.   Paul Laurence Dunbar said it well in his poem "We Wear the Mask".....In his words (in part), "We wear the mask that grins and lies, It hides our cheeks and shades our eyes.  This debt we pay to human guile; With torn and bleeding hearts we smile."....   It seems to me we are all careful to hide our true selves.  It is difficult to be truly vulnerable.  Don't you agree?  Thanks for stopping by!

Take a Word - Moon

Moon is our challenge word this week at Take A Word.   My moon is compliments of Terri Kahrs (thank you, Terri!), body is a paper doll, and other elements from Scrapbookgraphics.   I'm reminded of the song lyrics:  "I see the moon, the moon sees me The moon sees somebody I want to see.  So, God bless the moon and God bless me And God bless the 'Somebody' I want to see"

Three Muses - Africa

Africa and its mysteries holds a fascination for many of us.  My niece has been working  as a missionary in Tanzania.  She has grown quite fond of Africa.   Several years ago I read a memoir by Kuki Gallmann, "I Dreamed of Africa".   It is a fascinating book of life on a vast ranch in Kenya in the 1970's.   And then, who cannot remember the romantic film "Out of Africa" starring Robert Redford and Meryl Streep!    I hope you enjoyed your visit to Africa this week!

Take a Word - Frame

I love doing vintage collages, so of course my frame is a vintage one, and my collage contains ephemera harvested from cybersurfing.   I always want to know the stories of days gone by that go with each piece of ephemera!   Thanks for visiting my blog!

Three Muses - Friends

My little friends are compliments of Land of Nod, and the rest is fashioned from bits and pieces of a kit from Create Wings Designs and Catherine Designs.   About friends:  More than 10 years ago,  I met a feisty, intelligent, funny lady from Australia on a pen pal site.  Our friendship has grown through the years.  We learned digital art together, we've shared life's ups and downs.  She is the best friend I've never met.  You may know her.  Her name is Marie!  I'll dedicate this piece to her.

Take a Word - Beauty

There's nothing more beautiful to me than a very early autumn morning when the mist lies heavy on the land, and silence is broken only by the sound of awakening birds.   The beauty takes one's breath away, and it's as if the timelessness of it leaves you in touch with all who came before and all who are yet to come, aware that you're a link in the endless chain of life.   A sort of peace just settles over me.  I created this piece some time ago, but each time I revisit it I'm reminded of the beauty of misty mornings and contentment.   Thank you for stopping by!

Three Muses - Zetti

This is copied from a page in my journal, so I apologize for the lack of clarity. My little Zetti girl has the right idea, though!!!  (Yes, I know her socks don't match.  I guess she was too busy being kind to notice!!!)   Thanks for visiting.
