Our challenge this week was to use an arch in our work. This arch seemed to lend itself well to my little flower girl, whose been in my stash for some time. I lightly tinted the black and white photo. Don't you wonder when you see these vintage photos if children ever smiled in those days? Everyone always looks so somber! Thanks for stopping by. I appreciate your comments.
this is exquisite, just the right touches, my new favorite!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is so, so lovely! How brilliant to use an arch this way. Yes, they don't smile - may he because cameras were so big and scaring and a photographer under a cover...
ReplyDeleteIt's sweet, my friend!Lovely girl!
ReplyDeleteshe's not smiling but she sure does have some beautiful eyes! Your choice is perfect and your coloration is just right... love this!
ReplyDeleteThe eyes tell us all. Adorable and a nice way to use an arch.
ReplyDeleteI just put mine up.
This is a gorgeous piece, Bev, absolutely stunning.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you re: the smiles, Bev but you have a beauty here, love her eyes!
ReplyDeleteSuch a gorgeous child under the most beautiful arch. Exquisite Bev!
ReplyDeleteAll vintage photos (almost all) are unsmiling as they had to hold their pose for several seconds for the cameraman. You just try to hold a smile for 20 seconds. It would look so artificial. That's my theory anyway...! smile....xx
June is right, a pose for most than few minutes was to long for children, even for adults... they had to stand still and do their utmost; that's why they look always so serious...
ReplyDeleteAnyway, your flower little girl is a treasure and your work is fantastic! :)
Love the way you have framed the girl in the arch. Not only did they not smile but they had to wear those restricting clothes. I like the way you have coloured the old carpet too to make it look faded.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful placement of your little girl. Cheers
ReplyDeleteShe is so cute and lovely, a wonderful piece and very creatively made.

This is gorgeous, Bev. The little girl is so appealing and the arched setting is perfect. Photo taking was a very serious business in those vintage years. (Love the tinting).
