Theme Thursday - Wings

I had fun with this one! The witch's body and bats are from Graphics Fairy, the witch's head is from Penniwig, and the house is from a photo of a parade float! I used Ulead lighting effect on the completed piece. Thank you for looking.

Three Muses - Zetti

Zetti, to me, is an oddly "constructed" character with a dash of black and white somewhere. It was fun "meeting" this fellow. Credits to Fidlette and Kubivet. Thank you for looking!

Mixed Media Monday - Lyric

Especially in the inner city, or when seeing the homeless, these lyrics from the Beatles' song come to my mind. This entry is a silent prayer for all the lonely people. Photos are googled, and the grunge overlay is by Bernie Datema at Scrapbook Graphics.

Sunday Postcard - Striped Legs

I love "building" stripey leg people, so I really enjoyed this challenge. Hat is by Fidlette, Face from Flickr Collage Images, body by me, shoes from catalog, and the house by Creates Wings. Thanks for looking!

Theme Thursday - Script

I love to do vintage collages. This week's theme at Theme Thursday was a good excuse, and it was fun to pull all the pieces together! Credits to Scrapbook Graphics Impression of Change, and Irene Alexeeva, and background is by Christina Renee Designs with script overlay. Thanks for looking!

Three Muses - Window

Ann's challenge this week at The Muses is Windows. I'm still sort of "out there" playing with metal bits. This was fun, though. Sky and bits and pieces are from Maya at Scrapbook Graphics, and the window is from Jen U Designs at SBG. Thanks for stopping by!

Mixed Media Monday - Metallica

Oh dear, what a fun time I had with this. Steampunk art seems to be the coming thing, so I decided to try some. The brass urn is googled, binoculars are from Fotalia; the face, wheels for the "steamwagon" and watch hands are from Jen U Designs; background and mask from Flergs at SBG; padlocks and keys from Tammara at Pixel Music; stars, "smokestack", and warped clock from Maya at SBG; and the spray can and spatula for the "steamwagon" are googled. What a great challenge! Thanks for stopping by to take a look at my madness!

Sunday Postcard - Gypsies

It was fun to bring together this meeting of gypsies! I tried to capture the mystery about them, the color and spirit. Thanks for the challenge, and thanks for stopping by! The background is by Maya at Scrapbook Graphics, the gypsies from Flickr collage images.

Mixed Media Monday - Round Art

This challenge gave me an opportunity to use some elements from a recently acquired kit from SBG called Impressions of Change. The image is googled. The quote is by Maria Robinson, and is SO wise. Thanks for stopping by!

Sunday Postcard - Mr. Right

This challenge stumped me at first, then I thought out of the box.....'way out of the box! In 40 B.C. Cicero was Mr. Right in the Roman Empire. He was a philosopher, statesman, lawyer, political theorist, and one of the greatest orators of his time. His words are still quoted today. How right can you be? The background is from Kubivet. Thank you for stopping by!

SatWo - The Photo Before

This is the photo (from Art-E-Zine) that I altered for the Saturday Workshop. Thanks for the challenge, Sandy! The end result is below.

SatWo - Altered Photo

Our challenge was to alter a postcard or a photo. I wanted to try something different with this photo, so I experimented until it had an ethereal look, plopped a cityscape behind it, and had to add the obligatory touch of red! I know it's weird, but somehow I liked the effect. You can let me know what you think!

TGIF - Skull

It's always fun to create these "vewy scawy" pieces! Thanks for the challenge, Sandy.

Theme Thursday - Vintage ATC

This vintage lady was the cover of a 1920 Saturday Evening Post. Background and script is from Scrapbook Graphics Impressions of Change; frame from Plum Tuckered at SBG; swirl is from Creations 23. I love the elegance of those old magazine covers! Thanks for stopping by.

Three Muses - Moonstruck

I experimented with perspective on this one, taking the sheet music apart and skewing it to look like a box around the moonlit scene. Good challenge, Marie! Credit to Irene Alexeeva for the fairy, all else from public domain images. Thanks for looking!

Mixed Media Monday - Time of Day

Beth hosted the challenge this week, and asked that we pick a time of day and depict it. It brought to my mind a kaleidoscope of images from morning birdsong to twilight, and I could not seem to settle on one! The result is this piece, which has many layers. It needs to be seen in close-up. Thank you for looking!

An award

My generous (and funny, and talented) blog friend, Rosie, has kindly gifted me with the Me-Me award. I'm to list 7 things about myself, and name 7 blog friends I'd like to receive the award. Below I'll list the 7 things, but I'll ask you to choose ANY 7 names from my favorite blog list, and I promise you'll be pleasantly surprised at the talent you'll find. And now for the seven things:
1. I'm the widow of a firefighter.
2. I have zero patience, and endless curiosity.
3. I went to a one-room school.
4. I'm three-quarters of a century old. (Yikes!)
5. I was a medical transcriptionist and regional supervisor.
6. I have a spicy (sometimes sarcastic) sense of humor.
7. My employees (hopefully fondly) used to call me "Old Ironpants"!

Sunday Postcard - School

I'm not too old to remember the smell of new books, the excitement of new pencils and tablets, and the smell of chalk dust! Now it's cell phones and I-Pods, memory sticks and laptops. Times they are a-changin' ...

Art Creations - 9/4

What a sweet little image we've been given this week! I've altered the image a bit, and placed her in a meadow gathering flowers. I appreciate your stopping by!

TGIF and Saturday Workout

I hope a zentangled elephant qualifies as a funny animal! He's from a coloring book page, and doodled by me. The little "passenger" is from Flickr Collage Images, and the umbrella is from Kubivet.
P.S. I just discovered the challenge at Saturdays Workout is zentangles, so I'll enter him there too! Thanks for looking.

Three Muses - Chaplin

I can't wait to see all the Charlies this week! This started with my own background, with an overlay of script, an overlay of a skyline in silhouette, and lastly part of a movie poster from "A Dog's Life". The Charlie vignettes are from other posters. I decided I'd been doing too many "zetti type" pieces, and it was time to do something with more substance! Thanks for looking.
