Sunday Postcard - Patchwork

My "patches" are thumbnails of some of my previous art. You could say it's a lazy way to meet the challenge....but it took me forever to patch it all together. Thanks for looking!

So Artful Saturday - Dragonfly

The dragonfly challenge caught my fancy this week at SoArtful. I used some elements from Maya's Steampunk kit at SBG for this sort of off-the-wall piece. It just sort of created itself with no rhyme or reason. I think I will use it for a journal cover -- title unknown at this time! Thanks for looking!

Friday 4x4 - Daisies

Daisies are the challenge this week from 4x4. My entry is created with the help of Flickr collage images (SuzieQ). Who among us does not remember "he loves me, he loves me not" !

Theme Thursday - Words

Thanks for the word challenge, Theme Thursday! I scanned in the rooster (hand sketched by me) from my quote journal, and embellished the background a bit. He looks somewhat like the banty rooster who used to chase me through the yard on my way home from school!

Sunday Postcard - Owl

I have to admit our recent hot and steamy weather leaves me feeling a bit listless like my little owl friend. He was a freebie from away back when I was very careless recording freebies. Whoever you are, generous person who shared him, thank you. I love him, and have given him a good home! Thanks for visiting my blog....and thanks, Sunday Postcard for the challenge!

Three Muses - Mail Art

I always enjoy doing mail art, so this challenge was welcome. I always seem to end up with sepia and golden tones, however. I'm reminding myself to try to overcome that habit. I used bits and pieces from so much of my stash I lost track of what was where! Thanks for stopping by.

Sunday Postcard - Magic

Ah, Magic. Crystal balls, sorcerers, tarot cards, tea leaves, illusions and mysteries! With the help of Flickr Collage Images I've tried to capture the excitement of magic. The background is by Skeletal Mess. Once again (will I EVER learn?), I created this as a square and had to resize it to postcard size, which turned the crystal ball into an egg shape! Sorry about that! Thank you for your comments!

Three Muses - Travel

MY TRAVEL STORY ..... Once upon a time, before retirement, I traveled on business to the city of Chicago. At the end of the day, I checked into my motel, unpacked my cosmetics, freshened my makeup, and made my way to the hotel restaurant for dinner. While dining, the hotel manager approached me and asked me to stop by the desk when I finished my dinner, saying it was necessary to move me to another room. It seemed they had mistakenly checked me into a room that was already occupied by a Japanese businessman. I insisted there was no evidence of an occupant there, but he was insistent. Dinner finished, we made our way to my room. We looked about, and sure enough, on the far side of the bed sat a tidy, small piece of luggage, precisely placed by my almost roommate. We hastily gathered my things, and moved me down the hall. And so it was, in the city of Chicago on a chilly winter evening several years ago, a Japanese businessman and I narrowly escaped a late night encounter of startling dimensions!! Thanks Ann, for the challenge, and thanks everyone for reading my story!

Mixed Media Monday - Blue

Hey, don't we ALL need a little love when we're feeling blue? The cute little chick (compliments of my generous friend, Terri Kahrs at Pringle Hill) is hurrying over with a little love for my girl in blue. Terri is always generous and ever so talented. Pay her blog a visit, and thanks for stopping by mine!

Sunday Postcard - Babies

This is an appropos theme. I'm going to the first birthday party for my youngest little great granddaughter today. Babies are God's promise that the world will go on. Some time ago the renowned photographer, Annie Leibovitz, published a book of beautiful baby photos with Celine Dion called, I believe, "Miracle". This is reminiscent of one of those photos.

Art Creations - 7-9

Art creations has given us a lovely background to work with this week.   I used a Gaussian Blur, an Overlay Mode (per tutorial by Skeletalmess), added the lovely lady, a bit of a frame and some pretties by Lorie Davison of Scrapbookgraphics.   Thanks for stopping by!  (I used the new Blogger setting and selected "large", and just now I see it  chopped off a bit of the right side of my art piece.  Anyone else experiencing that same problem?   Grrrr).

Theme Thursday - Animals

One of my favorite musicals is "The Lion King".   I loved the costuming and the music, and I never tire of hearing "In the jungle, the mighty jungle, the lion sleeps tonight".     This blending of some googled images is reminiscent of the musical.    Thanks for the challenge!

THREE MUSES - Rust

This is my entry for the Three Muses blog challenge this week.   I just know this abandoned old car would have wonderful stories to tell if it could speak.   Maybe you'd like to make up your own story!   The background is from Land of Nod (thank you), and the car is googled.  The people are Flickr Collage Images. Thanks for stopping by!

Mixed Media Monday - Borrowed

MMM's challenge this week is "Borrowed" and I decided to go with "Borrowed Time". Seems like we're sometimes borrowing from tomorrow to get everything done today! My frame and elements are from Create Wings Designs, the young lady is (I think) from Art-E-Zine. Maybe the reason "borrowed time" came to mind is that my 17-year-old grandson from Oregon has been with me for a week. I have to say his youth and energy make me feel as if I'm living on borrowed time! It seems only yesterday I was trekking to Oregon to be present for his birth, and now he's 6 ft tall and driving. How did the years pass so quickly?

Sunday Postcard - Street Art

With house guests for two weeks, I've been missing the challenges. My computer area happens to be in my guest bedroom, where my grandson has been sleeping late every morning. (He's still on his Oregon time!) I did find time to go net surfing, and put together this graffiti "sampler" for the street art challenge at Sunday postcard. Thanks for stopping by to have a look!
