"We all grow up with the weight of history upon us. Our ancestors dwell in the attics of our brains, as they do in the spiraling chains of knowledge hidden in every cell of our bodies." ~~ Shirley Abbott
I thought of this quote as I created this one. The old house is credit to Swainboat (violets added), and the lady is my grandmother. I hope everyone enjoyed this challenge, and considered for a moment those who came before. Thanks for stopping by!
Your grandmother looks great. The violets are fabulous with the old house. Interesting, beautiful collage, Bev.

ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful piece, Bev, lovely photo of your Grandmother!
ReplyDeleteThis was a great challenge, Bev, and your poem-picture is lovely. When you talk about those abandoned houses it reminds me of these old photos I dig up in the web for my collages. In fact, I always wondered who they were (Did she have a life worth living? Did he waste his life?). I also feel like I threw light on that life again, although it was for a brief moment.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful and touching tribute to your grandmother and times gone by. I love the contrast between black and white and colour, especially the violets growing against the old, deserted house. An exquisite piece.
ReplyDeleteit is always so special to include family photos as you did with your grandma! beautiful photo of the old house, and the added violets are perfect for this!

A perfect assault on the senses here, Bev, with the violets against the black and white of the house bringing the past into the present, and your lovely petite Grandmother placed right there in the present too. A perfect and beautiful tribute, Bev.
