Miami Beach, @ 1955. Average wage $4,130.00. Cost of a new house $10,960; a new car $1,900. Gas was 93 cents a gallon; postage was 3 cents. Rent for my studio apartment was $52.50 a month, utilities included; my salary was $250 a month. Minimum wage was $1 an hour. Good job, good friends, and the world my oyster. Those were the days!
