Three Muses - Butterfly
FOREST VISITOR Background is a composite of 5 different photos, butterfly is from Dover Publications. Somehow this scene reminds me of Gene Stratton Porter's "Girl of the Limberlost". Butterflies are such wonders of nature. I have always been fascinated by the story of the Monarch butterflies of the northern U.S. who, in autumn, migrate thousands of miles to central Mexico for the winter. What amazing strength in those fragile wings!

Digital Whisper - Falling Leaves
Tucked away in the hills of Brown County, Indiana, near a little town called Bean Blossom, there's a quaint little restaurant called "The Farmhouse Restaurant". It's one of my favorite places to visit in the Fall when the leaves are drifting down. This is a scene from that spot, and the "visitor" is a sketch of mine. Thanks for your visit.
Take a Word - Headgear
I've always been partial to the cloche hats of the 20's. There's something incredibly feminine about them. It's sad we don't see women wearing hats any more.
SPA - The Beatles
SPA has chosen The Beatles for this week's challenge. I've captured the images from an album cover and used elements from Finecrafted Designs to create this street corner. Thanks for stopping by!

Three Muses - Sepia
A family photo of my mother and brother. Background from Lorie Davison at SBG, somewhat altered. Photo was taken in about 1928.

Dezinaworld - Wings
Scene and bird are cybersurfed. The lines are from a poem by Mary Oliver entitled "The Catbird". The lines seem to express so well the freedom of the catbird who sings when he wishes, no worries for pay, and has no need for pockets in his wings. Thanks for indulging me!

Take a Word - Bird
NIGHT VISITOR..... I've created the background and fence for this tufted titmouse from a photo taken by a friend (Beverly Lloyd). Isn't he just simply magnificent?

Best Friends - Harvest Moon
This bit of whimsy is for both the Sunday Postcard challenge (Harvest Moon) and Digital Whisper (BFFs). Thanks for allowing me to be a bit silly.

Sunday Postcard - Circus
This week's theme at SPA is "Circus". Two things came to my mind -- the old circus posters that used to be placed on barns, and the unforgettable Emmet Kelley. Sooo, here he stands before an old barn plastered with posters. Thanks for indulging me!

Take a Word - Umbrella
YOU CAN'T GO HOME AGAIN. Image is scanned from a book cover. The rest is cybersurfed.
In their later years, my grandparents wished to revisit their original home (cabin) in Missouri. My father took them there. It was by then a little deserted cabin in a wooded area. They commented it was not the same. Last year, I went by the home of my childhood. Nothing was the same. We can return to the site in our later years, but it is never the same. It is best kept in our memory, a home filled with laughter and love, filled with faces of our parents and siblings and those we loved, now long gone. My lady with the umbrella is learning that you truly can't go home again. Thanks for indulging me!

Digital Whisper - School Days
The challenge this week is "School Days", and the little lady above is hard at work on her spelling, I see. I wonder how long it took her Momma to make those beautiful curls? Thanks for a great
challenge, Patti.
