Artarazzi - Prairie Breezes

Vron at Artarazzi has given us this gorgeous image to work with, and we're to add a bit of orange. Somehow the image made me think of prairie breezes and a bit of daydreaming amongst the wildflowers. It came out this way ........

The ladies at Art Creations gave us a thoughtful image to work with this week. Since it's coming up on Valentine's Day, I suppose (sigh) she's thinking of love while she's taking a night time walk on the beach.

The "Moo guys" chose Vintage Couple for our theme. The image is from Flickr copyright free images, and the background is called Heritage, I have no clue by whom (sorry).

I often wonder what I did before I entered the world of blog challenges! I while away so many happy hours creating, and I SO enjoy looking at the work of others. My gratitude to all the lovely artists who take their time to keep the challenge blogs going, Make a Moo, being one of them!

Theme Thursday 4 x 4

SNOWBOUND

This is not a challenge, this is life! Taken at 8:30 a.m. this morning from my back door, the "icing" on my bird bath is an indication of the amount of snow we received overnight. It is quite beautiful to see, so long as one is inside and cozy warm with a good book and a fire in the fireplace! To those of you sweltering in Oz ...... come on up!

Sunday Postcard - Cats

It was fun to come up with something for Sunday Postcard's challenge topic of "cats". The background, overlay and frames are from B. Datema at Scrapbook Graphics. The cat on the door is by Irene Alexeeva, others were googled. What's not to love about a cat? Another one of my favorite quotes? "If cats could talk, they wouldn't!" Thanks for looking.

Artarazzi - Graphic

Artarazzi has given us a line graphic to work with. After a couple of filters, it became the wavy background for the bird and poppy from Natali Designs (SBG). Thanks, Vron! Check here to see the original graphic. ( For those who expressed curiosity, I "painted" my canvas red, used the Glowing Edges filter on the graphic overlay, then hit it with the wavy selection from Distort. After that I added the rest.)

Art Creations - Maude

The wonderful people at Art Creations provided this beautiful vintage image. The background and cameo are from Christina Renee, and the ephemera were a gift from an art friend in the Netherlands, Maretje. My Country 'Tis of Thee

The challenge at Make a Moo or Two is "Buildings". Inspired by the patriotism and pride renewed on Inauguration Day, I could think of no other building than the White House. May destiny smile on our new president and his family, and our country's good name be restored in the community of nations.

So Artful Challenge - Rainbow

This is a rather simplistic treatment of the challenge. The cityscape was sent to me by an Oz friend (thanks, Marie) long ago, and it's been retinted. The strains of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" have been running through my head ever since I read the challenge. Alberta at Amusing Muses has a delightful rendition playing on her blog. I gathered a few of the houses I've "built" in the past couple of years and created a colorful suburban scene. I hope it's worth a smile! We've all heard of stairway to the stars, but few of us have "scene" a ladder to the moon. I'm here to help where I can ......

Sunday Postcard - Turquoise

Lots To Do - Keys

For some reason, the challenge word "Keys" made me think of the chatelaine clasps worn by ladies in the 1880's to which they attached various items necessary to their duties. These might be sewing items, pocket knives, keys, and such. They usually attached the clasp at their waist, as seen in this silhouette image. The background for this piece is by Lorie Davison. I'm sorry, I'm not sure where I got the silhouette image of the lady.

Artarazzi - 1-17

Vron (at Artarazzi) graciously asked me to host this week's challenge. I chose the small design, which I used as an ornament on my entry. It will be SO interesting to see what others have done with it. The joy of blog challenges is seeing the creativity of artists, and the pieces that develop starting with a single image or challenge. So Artful - Camouflage

Well this was a challenge that was a challenge -- Camouflage! I can't wait to see what everyone else does with this one. In the hospital they wear scrubs, so it follows in the forrest they'd wear shrubs......doesn't it??

A big thank you to Art Creations for the wonderful images they provide us as inspiration. This little schoolgirl seemed to me to need a schoolroom, and so I provided her one. It reminds me much of the one-room school I attended when I was a child -- right down to the pot-bellied stove! Thanks for looking.

Make a Moo - Circles

I guess being locked in the midst of bitter cold following a 4-inch snowfall led me from the topic of "circles" to the circle of life, to the change of seasons. It was nice to think about tulips, beaches, and glorious autumn leaves. Alas and alack, my world looks like #3 at the moment!! I realize that, conversely, our Oz friends are locked in the midst of a summer heat wave. I dreamed last night I was moving to North Carolina, where the weather is somewhat in between. It was a nice dream .........

Everyone knows by now my favorite thing to do is a vintage page, and the challenge topic of "Couples" led me straight to this photo of my father and mother in their "courting days". Think Monday, THink ATC - Autos

I love images of vintage autos, so this challenge was a no-brainer. Here's one of my favorites (from Flicker free collage images), on the road again! One of my favorite things to do is to take a drive down country roads, nosing about quaint little antique shops and small town cafes, apple orchards, and pumpkin patches.

I changed the photo to sepia, and put it in a vintage setting.....First, I extracted it and there followed various failed forays into parks and gardens and mystical places! For me, it seemed to fit best in vintage. and I ended up using the unextracted (is that a word?) version. Thanks for the challenge, Vron ..... I think!!

This gorgeous background lends itself well to everyone's imagination! I changed the tint to blues and grays, and it made me think of the song lyrics, so I added some stardust from Jofia Devoe, a couple out on the town from Art-E-Zine, and Christina Renee's city apartments to complete the scenario. Make a Moo - Winter Frost

Winter frost! This photo by Allon Kira makes me see my breath! I think there is nothing quite so lovely as winter frost, when the world looks surreal and even a pile of trash becomes a thing of incredible beauty sparkling in winter sun like a collection of jewels. Big Art Adventure - Charms

Rosie and Linda at Big Art Adventure issued a "charming" challenge. Pictured is a necklace of charms from a swap in my local art group. Some are rolled paper beads, some are recycled jewelry, some are polymer clay, domino, acrylic, wrapped wire and beads. I'm happy to share this photo, and hope it inspires would-be "charmers"!
