Three Muses - Fowl Play

I chose fowl play for this week's challenge at Three Muses. I like the contrast of black and white in the background and the glorious color of this happy rooster!! The chickens on our farm were my mother's business (she kept her money separate like the smart woman she was), and each week we sold just over 100 dozen eggs...each and every one carefully gathered, cleaned if necessary, and cased in proper fashion. I miss many aspects of life on the farm, but gathering, cleaning and casing eggs is NOT one of them! Thanks for stopping by!

  1. What a fine, strutting rooster with colours so bold! I agree that he looks magnificent against his clutch of black and white chicks. Fantastic!

  7. My five year old son thinks the chickens are saying "go back in the barn" because he looks very bossy. His 39 year old mother - says great piece, especially the story wrapped around it!

  13. Bev, I too love the one splash of colour against the black and white background. Am I being fanciful to think it illustrates beautifully the long ago memories (in black and white) with the colour of the present day? Mmmmmmm. It's a stunning piece whichever way. Standing Ovation.

  18. Your scene is gorgeous!Thks for your comment on mine. Chicken trivia...We lived near a huge egg farm for many years. School kids got jobs "picking eggs" for extra money. My grandson when 6 asked his mom to help him make a resume to take there so he could get a job! She did, they went, the owners were very nice and tactful with him, LOL...

  23. Beautiful piece, Bev.

I grew up on a farm too, and we used to sell eggs. I remember my mother loading us up in the car and we'd go door to door selling our eggs (back in the day).
