Mail is becoming a thing of the past, what with Facebook, Twitter, My Space, e-mail, IPhone, etc. It may be just as well, because no one will remember how to spell anyway -- or grammar --- or sentence construction -- SIGH. Gone is the thrill of opening the mailbox and finding an envelope marked S.W.A.K. on the flap. Does anyone remember what that means?
Bev, I am sure it is you I have to thank for introducing me to the likes of Nick Bantock and his mail art somewhere off in the misty past. This one is such a dreamy and mystical take on the theme. I love it! I love the softness and the overlaying of letters and cards, not to mention the gorgeous image. Stunning work.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a beautiful, feminine piece Bev, it reminds me of a special collection of personal love letters or correspondence to always cherish. This piece has a wonderful vintage satiny look to it- fantastic work!
ReplyDeletelovely and very elegant piece!
ReplyDeletePretty in pink, Bev, lovely mail art! I enjoy getting REAL letters & cards at this times from my old friends in the UK nothing beats a handwritten letter!

This is beautiful, Bev...such a lovely piece of mail art. Heck, I even enjoy the fliers now, not much else. All the bills go directly to the bank and nothing arrives in the mail that is "Sealed With A Sweet Kiss" (SWASK) or even "Sealed with a Kiss" (SWAK).
ReplyDeleteHugs, Gayle

ReplyDeleteWhow...Bev...your art mail card is so elegant and beautiful. Love it.
ReplyDeleteWhen I read your post, Bev, I got a little pang of nostalgia. I ADORE the written word. One of my most treasured things in this world is an envelope addressed to me when I was a young bride with my beloved Grandmother's handwriting. In it was a treasured recipe. Sad to say, snail mail days are going the way of the Dodo. Lovely piece and post! Hugs, Terri xoxo
ReplyDeleteVery gentle and pretty creation, Bev!
ReplyDeleteLovely piece!
Elegant, Bev. I love the delicate colors that say that this is a vintage piece. So beautiful. SWAK is still in use in a way. Christine has it spelled out on her blog next to her ID picture. See below:

oh, how lovely, women in love or women who have felt love must see the world like this: a pink and rosy life
ReplyDeleteBev, how beautiful, just a great colour combination.
ReplyDeleteBev, your delicate collage is really lovely! I so much agree with what you say about mail and letter writing nowadays - but I think the best way to struggle against this extinction is to write as many letters as possible - some day someone will answer!
ReplyDeleteHi Miss Bev! I haven't been by in far too long, but what fun to get a little caught up! So many lovely things to see as there always is. Your work delights me so.
ReplyDeleteI wanted to at least drop by and leave some wishes for a very blissful Christmas and Happiest of New Years!

Bev this is so nostalgic, I love your color choices! You are so right about the written letter or post being a thing of the past...our grandchildren may never know the excitement of having a pen pal & waiting excited to hear news of what they had been doing since you last wrote. Thanks for the memories...:)
