When I was a child 10 cents would buy a Dixie Cup filled with ice cream that came with a little wooden spoon. Inside each lid was a picture of a popular movie star of the time. It was always great excitement to see whose picture was in your Dixie Cup. On Saturday nights, outdoor movies were shown in the tiny town near our farm. We children spread blankets on the grassy area, and most of us were treated to a Dixie Cup. I understand these lids are collector items now. Oh, SIGH, I'm SO old!
Me too but for me it was double decker twin cones with two big scoops side by side for a dime, the only thing you can get today for a dime is a dirty look.
ReplyDeleteLove your picture and your story... Thanks.
LOVE, it says it all about why I scream for ice-cream!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWonderful memories, Bev, and a gorgeous picture of days gone by. The black and white treatment is perfect.
ReplyDeleteI ate ice cream from paper cups and with a tiny flat wooden spoon. But I guess I'm just a bit younger than you as there was never a picture of anybody or anything under the lid. That's kinda like finding out you've been eating Cracker Jacks but not getting the prize. I love your fun art piece! It's advice that I wish I could take. Wouldn't that be just heavenly.
ReplyDeleteSo strange and good, makes me smile! P.
