Three Muses - Black & White
Our challenge is black and white with a touch of color. My art group recently spent an afternoon zentangling (doodling), and this was the result of my effort. It seemed to fit Ann's challenge this week. The saucy doggie outline was found in a coloring book. Thanks for stopping by!
Dezinaworld - Jewels & Gems
The challenge is Jewels and Gems. Arrgh, me hearties, this pirate's treasure was just brought up from the ocean deeps! My trunk is from Jenn U Designs, the jewels from CR Designs and Lorie Davison of SBG.

Three Muses - Roses
Mary planted roses by the door
In that time so long ago
Through lace curtains at the window
She watched them bloom and grow.
Those days are long since gone
Faded into pages of the past
But still the roses vine and bloom
Each year as beautiful as the last.
The lace now hangs in tatters
The cottage vacant and still
The oaks still overlook it all
From their spot upon the hill.
Mary is but a memory
To those who loved her best
But still her roses vine and bloom
Since she’s been laid to rest.
So we, too, leave a legacy
In small things we have done
And we leave a gossamer footprint
That lingers after we have gone.
****
The cottage is a photo my daughter took in Brown County, Indiana. I've altered it a bit and
"planted" roses by the door, and written the poem above to tell its story. The tattered lace curtains at the window seemed to have a story to tell, don't you think? I hope you enjoy visiting!

Take a Word - Yellow
Yellow is such a cheerful color. It makes me think of wheat fields, straw bales, sunflowers, baby chicks, corn-on-the-cob, yellow delicious apples, butterflies, and lemon pie! I wonder what yellow brings to YOUR mind. Thanks for the visit.
Digital Whisper - Watermelon
This is a collage composed of a vintage seed packet and a vintage postcard. And isn't this the best way to eat watermelon....with the juice running down your chin?!

Three Muses - Book Cover
Anything written by I. Will Skayr is sure to "skayr" me! (It's always fun to have a bit of word play in the author's name.) This is the sort of book I'd be sure to take from the shelf. A little murder and mayhem is sure to capture my fancy for a quick evening read. Everything cybersurfed!

Take a Word - Circles
I'm often accused of "going 'round in circles", so this was great fun. A nephew by marriage has said our family motto is "When in trouble, when in doubt; run in circles, scream and shout!" I'd like to think this is a gross exaggeration, but there is some basis in fact! Thanks for visiting!

Digital Whisper - Telephone
Our challenge this week at Digital Whisper is "Telephone". This bit of whimsy from my archives seems to meet the challenge. Thanks for visiting, and thanks for your comments.

Three Muses - Mail Art
Isn't it a shame e-mail has replaced letters, we seldom send letters any more. Creating art on envelopes is great fun, and such a pleasant surprise to find in the mailbox! Thanks for your visit.

Take a Word - Book
When I was a child, the teacher in our little one-room school set aside time every day to read a bit from a book to all of us. His carefully chosen books opened our eyes to worlds beyond our very rural part of Illinois. It engendered in me a love for the written word which has lasted my life long. I will always be grateful to that teacher! The book above is from Sharing Tubes, the art is one of my own featuring a child from a painting by Jesse Wilcox Smith. Thanks for visiting!

Digital Whisper - Crackle
I have yet to master the crackle effect in PSE! In this collage, milady is an altered image from The Lost Gallery; vase by Itkupili, book by InaDesigns, window and background are googled. Thanks for the challenge, Patti. It encouraged me to try again! It's obvious I need to enroll in Crackle 101!

Three Muses - Buttons and Bows
There are all sorts of buttons and button sayings: Belly button, button your lip, cute as a button, press my buttons, hit the panic button, bright as a button, right on the button, button nose and just plain button it! Not only that, they hold our clothes together! It is only just we honor buttons. And bows? We can go bow hunting, wear a bow tie, or use one on our violin. I guess it's time for me to button my lip and tie this all up with a neat little bow. Thanks for indulging me!
