Ahhhh, in my mind there will never be another male star with the masculinity and sexual appeal of Clark Gable. When he said "Frankly, Scarlett, I don't give a damn, there was a collective gasp in the theaters at hearing the word "damn" coming from the big screen. Imagine that! Even so, he caused female hearts to flutter for all the years he swaggered across the screen.
My english language is too poor to say exactly what I feel, but I really love your choice which is deeply rooted in my "cinéphile mémoire". Quel homme!!

If there was a collective gasp at the word "damn" in 1939, imagine what would happen if that same audience heard dialogue, 2010 style!! You are so right about Mr Gable. Where are the new generations of handsome, masculine and sexy stars? His was an era that will never return and he was the King.
ReplyDeleteBev, your collage is superb. I love it.

Bev, you have done him such justice in your gorgeous collage and I LOVE how you have managed to lead us right into it with the film strip too. Standing O from me.

Bev, I grew up in a town called Kettering. In the second world war there was a US airbase just outside of town where Clark Gable was stationed. He lived in a house in the town about half a mile from where I lived and when I was a toddler I went to nursery school there!! Cool pics and montage!
ReplyDeleteA great collage, Bev. I do love Gone with the Wind!
