Make a Moo - Sew

My grandmother's hands were never still when she was sitting in her rocker. It seemed she was always sewing strips of rags together to be made into rag rugs; piecing together bits of fabric that later became quilts, comforters or pillow tops; darning grandpa's socks, mending or sewing on buttons. This silhouette made me think of grandma, and the skill of those busy hands.

Art Creations - 4-30

I put this week's image on a book cover, and had a little fun with the title and the author. Credits to CreateWings Designs for the background, and Plum Tuckered for the frame.

Crazy Amigos - Colorful Vintage

I couldn't resist this week's challenge at Crazy Amigos -- Colorful Vintage. This background was done in Corel Paint watercolors, and blended, and then overlaid with a vintage letter, and finally the lovely images from Graphics Fairy. I know most of the amigos are stampers, but I hope they welcome any art inspired by their challenge!! Thanks for looking!

So Artful Challenge - Book

June at SoArtful has suggested we do a book cover this week, the theme "A Child in the Woods" In retrospect, I think June intended the book title to be "A Child in the Woods", but I misunderstood and chose my own title. Sorry about that! The whole thing made me think of "A Girl of the Limberlost". Did anyone read that? Anyway, here's my effort, and thanks for looking!

My generous blog friend, Lynn Stevens of Trash to Treasure Art has presented me with the Renee Blog Award. I'm honored, but I find it difficult to choose just seven from my list of wonderfully inspirational blogs. So I invite everyone to just choose any seven from the list, and I know they'll be in for a treat. Don't forget to visit Lynn's blog as well!

Mixed Media Monday - Mermaid

Natalie has chosen Mermaids as the theme for this week's Mixed Media Monday. My mermaid is a Flickr image from Suzie Que. I added a little music so she could practice her scales ...... ahem! Thanks for looking.

The word glamous brings to mind the era of silent films. It was an era of swashbuckling and glamourous ladies,--none more glamourous than the lovely Claire Windsor pictured here. Thanks for looking.

Mirror Mirror on the Wall

Mirror, Mirror on the wall. Who's the fairest of them all? .... The challenge image at Artarazzi this week was this lovely mysterious lady with flowing locks by Boris Vallejo. I imagine her as being quite vain, so I've cast her image in an old mirror. The mirror is googled, and I used a portion of one of Jen U's old bottles for an overlay to give the mirror effect (I hope!) Thanks for looking.

Foggy Day at Pigeon Point

Vron at Artarazzi has given us an image of a seagull to work with this week. I flew mine to the Pigeon Point Lighthouse on a foggy day. Built in 1871 on the Pacific coast in California, it's still used as a navigational aid by the Coast Guard. It's now a state historic park. Thanks for looking!

Art Creations - Teddy

The ladies of Art Creations have given us an adorable teddy bear image to work with this week. Somehow it made me think of the time my children left for college, and left their toys behind. The poem is a Bev original, written some time ago. Don't you suppose, if teddy bears could write, they might write something exactly like it? Thanks for looking!
