I love the women painted by John William Waterhouse. I've used his "Undine" against a backgbround by Lorie Davison of Scrapbook graphics. The quote ("A woman can say more in a sigh than a man can say in a sermon.") makes me smile. When my children talk about my parenting skills, they always mention knowing they'd done something to displease me when I emitted a deep sigh. I love teasing them and saying they were abused children because their mother sighed at them! I do believe sighing is a woman thing!! Thank you for listening and looking!
This is beautiful Bev! I like how you've mixed words into the background.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful piece and a great story ^^ I sigh at my students too, especialy when they have not done their homework ! :D
ReplyDeleteWow this is really beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThe background is amazing. Love it.
Such a wicked Mother to sigh at your children. Tee hee. Bev, this is exquisite and your quote speaks volumes, it has to be one of your very very best. Applause from my corner.
ReplyDeleteI "second" Ann's comment! You may be a wicked mother, but you're a heck of an artist! LOL! Seriously, Bev, this is magnificent! Hugs, Terri xoxo

ReplyDeleteLovely Bev; absolutely wonderful!
ReplyDeleteBev, this is beautiful and so, so elegant. Could it have come from an abusive mother? I am soooooo shocked to hear that you actually sighed at your children. It is remarkable that they turned out so well.
ReplyDeleteholy smokes!!! what a beautiful piece..I love her hair!!! just gorgeous!!!
ReplyDeleteoh bev, i love your sense of humor but i love your art piece even more! it's truly beautiful and i am amazed at the background with the script wallpaper on the right and the lovely quote on the left. and don't feel bad about sighing at your kids..i stared at my boys and i still hear about it when we are sitting around the table remembering when. but i tell you what, those boys knew I meant business by just giving them "the look"!
ReplyDeleteAnother stunner, Bev!
ReplyDeleteI love reading your thoughts to go along with your creation. It is perfect

ReplyDeletethis is a very beautiful piece.
ReplyDeleteit has a great look from colors and textures
Superb! It's just occurred to me that I also sigh a lot!! Thanks for making me smile! If you're after the poster paint pens, buy a couple of each Bev, as I'm reliably informed that they're being discontinued... =( How stupid is that, when they're the optimum for writing on ANY surface? >.<
ReplyDeleteA classic beautiy that you've beautified beautifully!! love this!! Love the quote and the story to go with it!! Have a beautiful and feminine day Bev :)
ReplyDeleteLinda
I think men get a bit scared when they hear a woman sigh. Makes them wonder what they've done wrong! Sometimes I just sigh because I'm tired and it gets the boyfriend all worried! Lovely piece!
ReplyDeleteFabulous piece Bev!
ReplyDeleteUndine is lovely, and so is this background!
ReplyDeleteEine sehr schöne Karte!!
ReplyDeleteLovely image!!! I think this is a wonderful interpretation of the theme!! Thank you for your thoughts on my uploading problem. i think we have managed to fix it when we put the new windows 7. I seem to be able to upload that picture no problem now. Perhaps if you are experiencing the same problem could try an upgrade? It seems to have helped mine, for the moment.
ReplyDeleteWow, wow, wow...this is gorgeous! You already know how much I love Waterhouse, so this one really grabs me. The background is so elegant, and that quote is fantastic...love it!!! ~Lori
